UNITEAM AS has won two contracts for the supply of FTR's worth NOK 42
million (Approx. $7.2 Million USD) to Agip Karachaganak BV for use in
Aksai, Kazakhstan.
The delivery consists of several smaller FTR's (Field Temporary
Refugee's) to protect the operator's personnel from H2S gas in the area.
The units will be built at Uniteam’s yard in Skedsmokorset, right
outside Oslo.
The contracts came through development work with Agip Karachaganak's
parent company ENI in Italy, who wanted more focus around the safety of
their operators in Kazakhstan. Uniteam AS expertise in the field of gas
safe shelters throughout the last 10 years, and their patented GSSP
solution for connecting multiple shelters into larger buildings, was
decisive when Uniteam AS was chosen as a supplier to ENI.
The first part of the delivery which was three smaller temporary
solutions was completed in July this year. Uniteam is now in the main
stages of the development process, and is to be competed and delivered
towards the end of the year, where in addition to having gas-proofing;
the buildings will also have protection against Blast and JetFire.
There has been considerable attention to the danger of H2S gas to
personnel recently at various oil companies; due to this Uniteam expects
additional orders in the region in the near future.
